Facility Demolition

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services performed demolition and dismantling of a former film processing company. The scope of work included: disconnecting all utilities prior to beginning demolition activities; removal of asbestos containing floor tiles and wallboard.  Pressure washing of hazardous levels of cyanide staining was removed and the rinse water contained for disposal.  The building, which was approximately 65,000 square feet in size, was demolished and debris was transported to a certified disposal facility.  Approximately 2000 square feet of concrete slab was disposed as special waste.

 

Exploratory Excavation

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed exploratory excavation for a number of consulting firms.  The work consists of trenching in areas suspected of illegal landfills or disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous and biological waste.  A Health and Safety Plan is designed for each project to address suspected and unexpected waste.  Sunbelt operators are provided with proper PPE and response equipment to deal with unanticipated discoveries during exploratory excavation.  Upon completion of the investigative work the excavations are backfilled with clean fill and the excavated materials properly disposed, or the excavated materials are returned to the excavation and capped with a clay cap or resurfaced with concrete. 

 

Excavation & Disposal 

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed excavation and disposal projects throughout the southern United States.  Sunbelt has designed and performed excavation, handling and stockpiling of soils impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, solvents, PCBs, and bird droppings (histoplasmosis). Once analytical was provided, the soils were profiled to a certified disposal facility and transported for disposal.  The excavations were backfilled with select fill material and compacted in lifts.  The surfaces were restored.

 

Drum Disposal 

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services continues to provide our Clients with drum management services.  Sunbelt will utilize analytical results from Client investigative activities to profile transport and dispose of drummed soils and decontamination water.  In addition, drums discovered with unknown contents are sampled for identification and proper waste characterization of the contents.  The drums are properly labeled and packaged, the manifesting prepared and loaded and transported to a certified landfill facility, fuel blender or incinerator.

 

Treatment System Installation

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed installation of a number of treatment systems for consulting firms in Texas, Louisiana and Michigan.  These systems range from air sparge/vacuum extraction systems to carbon and air stripping systems. The site work consists of installation of the treatment pads and fence, vaults, piping and placement of the treatment equipment.  In some cases these systems require horizontal borings and or road construction.  Operations and Maintenance of these systems is service which Sunbelt has provided to our Clients not only through startup but weekly and monthly services as well.

As a part of this service Sunbelt has decommissioned a number of systems.  This service entails removal or closure of piping, vaults and removal of the treatment equipment along with demolition of the equipment pad and restoration of the site.

 

Drycleaner Remediation

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed facility decontamination and removal of soil contaminated with perchloroethane at drycleaner sites throughout the. The scope of work included removal of trash, equipment and debris inside the building, excavation of the impacted area using a combination of hand methods and mini-excavators.  The waste materials were placed into lined roll-off containers and in some cases treated with additives and efforts to reduce the levels of contamination and reduce the costs of disposal.  Upon receipt of acceptable analytical results, the soils were profiled and transported for disposal at a certified disposal facility.  The excavation was closed through placement and compaction of backfill; and site restoration.  In some cases the excavation was plumbed with piping to continue injection of additives for insitu treatment of soils.

 

Petroleum Soils

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed excavation of petroleum impacted soils at oil & gas facilities throughout Texas.  The soils are typically excavated and placed in a treatment cell and treated with a chemical that promotes bio-degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons.  Upon completion of the treatment the soils are returned to the excavation or distributed uniformly at the site.

 

Underground Storage Tanks

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has removed underground storage tanks throughout the southern U.S.  A site specific Health and Safety Plan is prepared with MSDS for the tank contents. The tanks are excavated by a licensed supervisor and following degassing procedures, removed and transported for destruction.  The excavation is sampled by a licensed Consultant and upon receipt of acceptable analytical results, the excavation is backfilled and compacted and the site is restored.

 

Tank Cleaning (confined space entry)

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed tank cleaning in a number of environments and for a various reasons such as inspection, repair and change in product.  A Health and Safety plan is prepared with MSDS for the tank contents.  Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as suits, respiratory protection and boots and gloves are utilized along with applicable equipment such as spark resistant tools are utilized to perform the cleaning.  Oxygen and explosivity monitoring equipment is used along with explosion proof fans, motion detectors and emergency escape equipment. 

A secondary service to tank cleaning is sand blasting and coating of tanks for protection against corrosion.  The coating is applied in two (2) coats and must be applied under proper conditions with respect to heat and humidity.

 

Aboveground Storage Tank Installation

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed aboveground storage tank installations.  These installations range from emergency generator tanks installed inside the generator room to fueling tanks for commercial facilities.  The tanks are double wall tanks, fire rated concrete vaults or secondarily contained within concrete berms or walls.

 

Fencing

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed construction of fencing for construction sites requiring up to two years of construction activity.  The fences include personnel and construction entry gates.  In addition, permanent fencing with privacy slats and screens have been installed at locations for protection of equipment or personnel.

 

Asbestos Abatement

Description of Work:    Sunbelt Industrial Services has performed asbestos abatement in industrial and commercial settings.  Asbestos containing materials such as pipe insulation, floor tiles and spray applied ceiling coat.  Abatement is always performed under containment and negative air environment.  Personnel utilize proper PPE and medical records and annual physicals are maintained for all personnel.  The abated materials are transported to certified landfills.
